He Taught me

I cannot remember a lot of things that my father taught me. But, I remember being with him and going places. Working at gas stations, delivering beer on big trucks, making doughnuts, mowing the yard........hmmm it seems he taught me through doing things with me.

He taught me when I was not aware of what he was doing. Sometimes those were the best experiences, because I was having fun being with him and he was teaching me through life's daily responsibilities.

" Hear. O sons, the instructions of a father, and give attention that you may gain understanding,..." Proverbs 4:1

"I'm telling you this straight. The Son can't independently do a thing, only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does. The Father loves the Son and includes him in everything he is doing." John 5:19 ( The Message)

Even our Saviour, Jesus, was subject to His Father's teachings as he walked daily with Him. So, we must learn to walk in the reality of "He taught me".

"But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.. John 1:12 (English Standard Version)

Thanks for this, James. This is so applicable to the day where folks grab the authority of the Word and leave the relationship behind. Jesus knew the Word but He spent much time alone, I'm sure with Daddy God, and didn't do anything unless Daddy told him to do so. This is one of the greatest keys I've learned in life. Relationship trumps authority any day.
